MAGICAL MYKONOS

So in love was I with my stop off in Mykonos last year that I couldn’t resist another flying visit on my recent trip to Greece, I wanted to see, explore and taste more! With only 4 nights before moving onto Athens I wanted to pack in as much as possible.

Although I had explored the old town last year it was and is too pretty to bypass, with the maze like paved pathways usually leading to little treasures.

I stayed at the fabulous ‘Chill Out Studios‘ which overlooks the Aegean sea and is positioned perfectly for views of the sun setting in the evening. Only a short walk away from the old town, windmills and a slightly longer walk to Ornos beach. Hosts Mike and Ada are great and ensured I enjoyed my stay.

I hired a quad for the day which is something I was a little nervy about, but in the name of exploration I over-came my fear and took to the (right hand side of the) road! With no map or schedule I was free to discover more of Mykonos.  I would highly recommend this to anyone, solo traveller, couple or friends – go make memories!

On my last evening I took a boat trip to Delos island, around 20 minutes away from Mykonos, which is only €32 for the boat and entrance to the island. The island is full of ancient ruins dating back thousands of years, it was also the birth place of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis and is considered a sacred island.

I was well and truly in my happy place here, with 2 hours to explore I wanted to see as much as possible. There were tour guides available, but I decided to go it alone. Able to go at my own pace meant I was able to squeeze in a climb to the top of the islands peak, Mount Kynthos, and get back before the boat left! At 110 metres high the views were breath taking, especially as it was the magic hour…. result!

Ahh Mykonos I do love you and I’ll be back soon!
